A team of 35 person from various NGOs of Jhadol, Kotda block with their Bal Vadi workers under the leadership of Mr. C.R. Joy, Senior Program Coordinator ChildFund India, Jhadol Cluster visited the Child Care Centre run by Hindustan Zinc Limited and Vedanta
Foundation on 10th Feb 2012. Ms Sushma Sharma, Head, CSR, Hindustan Zinc Limited, Zawar Mines welcomed the team at CCC Zawar Mata.
She explained about the VBCP and CCC to the team members. Mr. Gulab Singh Sisodia of VBCP was also present with team and visited the ICDS Anganvadi of TIDI which is supported by Hindustan Zinc.
Mr. Joy said in speech that he has been working in rural areas, particularly Child activities but the way Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Trust of India and Hindustan Zinc Limited is doing work for the children of age between 30-60 months in rural areas is incomparable.
As a member CWC, Udaipur, Mr. R.S. Dhakar explained about Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000 and also Right to Education Rules 2010 and proposed vote of thanks on behalf of Children and staff of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
The deliverables were handed over to the programme co-ordinators by the Hon’ble Minister Revenue & Disaster Management, Sh Surjya Narayan Patro. The Foundation aims to spend Rs. 6 crores in 2500 centres during the current year for underprivileged children in Odisha.
This is a unique initiative adopted by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Trust of India in partnership with the Government run Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), for the holistic development of children in the districts of Kalahandi & Rayagada.
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Project, initiated work under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode in the states of Orissa and Rajasthan and presently covers about 3000 Anganwadi centres by addressing the needs of 1,25,000 children.
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, in partnership in ICDS scheme, also runs its own Day Care Centres for pre-school children all over India. The children are nurtured with breakfast, lunch and evening snacks, with joyful pre-schooling and doorstep health care services enabling them to excel in formal schools later. The program also marked distribution of two sets of uniforms to children in 36 Day Care Centres which are being run by the Foundation in Odisha since 2004.
The Foundation has plans to expand this program to other districts in future. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, under the stewardship of Anil Agarwal, Chairman of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, has a vision of contributing to the overall well-being of more than 1 million children in the country.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Surjya Narayan Patro, Hon’ble Minister for Revenue & Disaster Management, commended the initiatives of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Trust of India and urged other corporate houses to emulate the same. During his address, he said that one Rourkela Steel Plant has transformed the entire Sundergarh district and one MIG factory in Sunabeda has changed the complexion of Koraput district.
Sh Balabhadra Majhi, Chairman TDCC & BJD President, Kalahandi and Mr. Sanjeev Chaddha, Director SC & ST Dept., Govt. of Odisha also spoke on the occasion and appreciated various ongoing welfare activities of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Trust of India in the state and promised to extend all support.
Shri Balakrushna Ratha, Project Head, Sarva Shiksha Abhiya in Odisha, apprised the audience about the various activities carried out by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in Odisha through its Anganwadi & Child Care Development Programmes.
